Road safety.

Issued: 3 Feb 2026

Status Update

Messages have been shared through My Community Voice, the police messaging service, about speeding, e‑scooters and general road safety. These have also been shared in local Facebook groups to help reach more residents.

Officers are regularly in the area and remain alert to vehicles and drivers who should not be on the road. A speed‑detection device is also used to carry out spot speed checks, which can be deployed at any time depending on operational demand.

Following a request from Dymchurch Parish Council, a beat officer carried out speed enforcement along the A259 between Tudor Avenue and Wraightsfield Avenue.

Actioned: 31 Mar 2026

Wildlife crime.

Issued: 3 Feb 2026

Status Update

When emergency calls are received, particularly about hare coursing or poaching across the Marsh, officers will attend when they are able. This is often done alongside colleagues from the local policing team and, where appropriate, the Rural Task Force.

Officers are also aware of some reports involving young people using catapults to harm wildlife. While this does not appear to be a widespread issue in the Romney Marsh ward, action has been taken where concerns have been raised. In some cases, stop and search powers have been used and items such as ball bearings have been seized.

Officers will continue to monitor the area and respond to reports to help protect wildlife and keep the community safe.
